TWO MEMBERS of Callington Lions' Club are about to embark on a major fundraising programme for Macmillan Cancer Support which includes driving a 1950 MG TD from Scotland to Cornwall in the Classic Car Grand Tour.
Terry Bolt and Jeff Hearn will be travelling from Cape Wrath to Cape Cornwall in April next year and aim to raise £5,000.
Terry, an ardent fundraiser for Macmillan following the death of his wife Jill from cancer in 2001, will be driving his own classic car. Jeff will be navigator and co-driver. All expenses will be met by the participants so every penny donated will benefit Macmillan.
Among his Macmillan challenges, Terry has taken part in the Inca Trail trek in 2004 and equally demanding Great Wall of China in 2006. These were on foot when the burden was shared with lions Graham and Sue Body collectively raising £30,000.
The opening fundraiser in a programme of events up to the Grand Tour will be on September 30 between 11am and 1pm as part of Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning. There will be various stalls, a raffle and some light entertainment.TWO MEMBERS of Callington Lions' Club are about to embark on a major fundraising programme for Macmillan Cancer Support which includes driving a 1950 MG TD from Scotland to Cornwall in the Classic Car Grand Tour.
