Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division Two

Lamerton 3

Polperro 2

THIS proved to be a hard fought and tense affair to be expected from two teams in the top five of the table.

Chances were few and far between in the first half but the deadlock was broken when an excellent through ball from Paul Cowling put Lee Wickett clear and he beat the visitors? keeper from the edge of the box.

Kev Swift then missed a great chance to increase the lead before a Lee Wickett cross was guided in by Dan Healy to double the advantage at half time.

The second half had barely got under way when Simon Breyley was taken to hospital with a nasty gash to the knee and the side was reshuffled.

Lamerton proceeded to go three up when Wickett bagged his second and the game appeared comfortable.

A rare Pete Daniel error allowed the visitors a glimmer of hope with Adam Taylor converting and within three minutes another mistake allowed James Morris to reduce the deficit to one goal.

In the last twenty minutes Lamerton missed chances to put the game safe and in the end were happy to pick up the points against a well organized side whose keeper was outstanding.

This Saturday away to Tywardreath RBL in the league kick off 2.30pm.
