TO celebrate the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Forces Air Cadets on the 6th February 1941, Tavistock 2312 Sqn attended a wing parade at Truro last Sunday.

The parade saw more than 400 cadets and adult staff from the Plymouth & Cornwall Wing parade through the City and attending a dedication service in the cathedral, led by Wing Chaplain preb Brian Anderson.

The parade was led by Wing Comm Mike Symons, OC, Plymouth and Cornwall Wing Air Training Corps.

The reviewing officer was Air Vice Marshal Christopher Morris, from Headquarters Air Command; RAF High Wycombe.

Flt Lt Phil Newcombe of 2312 Squadron said: 'The public support shown in Truro to the cadets on parade made all involved in the movement proud of their heritage.'

The squadron will be involved in many celebrations in the coming year as several organisations in the Royal Air Force celebrate their 70th anniversary.

These include the search and rescue service which has a local link with the airfield at RAF Harrowbeer, Yelverton and the RAF Regiment.

The squadron is open to all young adults from 13 years of age.
