A CHARITY which helps elderly people and those with terminal illnesses care for their pets is seeking a volunteer to walk a dog for an owner in the Lewdown area.

The Cinnamon Trust is looking for someone to walk Izzy, an adorable five-year-old Jack Russell, whose owner is out of action for a few months after having an accident.

The charity is also looking for volunteers more generally in and around Lewdown, helping elderly or seriously ill people with pets carry on enjoying their companionship for as long as possible.

‘Volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them,’ said Sally Collins from the charity. ‘Teams take it in turn to visit housebound owners to take the dog for a walk, volunteers foster pets as one of their family when owners face a spell in hospital; they take pets to the vet, even clean out the budgie’s cage or cat’s litter trays.’
