THE Methodist and Anglican congregations at Bridestowe have recently signed a Covenant to acknowledge their long-standing relationship. The two churches have been working together for many years and met on Sunday, November 27 last year to witness the signing of a Covenant between them. The service began in the Methodist Church and following a candlelit procession was concluded at the Anglican Church. The Covenant also serves the purpose to repent of historical differences and attitudes and commits the congregations to work in harmony and to do as much as possible together. The Anglican Rev Arthur Parsons said: ?This is the first stage of coming together to recognise each other?s ministries. It is a sign of the goodwill that has been built up over the years.? Mr Parsons said the churches had been working together informally for many years, for example, there was already a church sharing arrangement once a month. Mr Parsons said if any new appointment was to be made, both churches in Bridestowe would be involved in the process of choosing the designated person.
