THERE were all creatures great and small at an animal service at Holy Trinity Church in Bere Alston recently.

The Rev Nick Law led the service and brought his two dogs to join the many canines who gathered, together with two brave cats and their owners.

The owners had the chance to give some details of the characters of their pets and the pets made themselves heard vocally on several occasions.

Among those present, was a guide dog puppy, who is due to go for his official training next month.

Some pet owners brought photos of their animals and there were also drawings by children.

All pets, present or at home, were blessed and the service concluded without any canine conflicts.

This was the first time a service of this kind had been held in the parish for many years and it resulted in a good attendance and was much appreciated by the pet owners.
