MEN at Hurdwick Golf Club have been chasing an elusive hole in one without success for the last three years.

Chris Tear managed to end the famine with a hole in one at the first hole during the October midweek stableford.

The competition was held in blustery weather with high winds and heavy rain showers. This made scoring difficult and the second highlight of the day was an excellent 37 points from vice captain, John Rea, who won the competition.

John takes over from Tim Gale as club captain on November 1.

In second place with 32 points was Ray Hurle and Tony Pearson was in third spot with 31 points.

The leading lady on the day was Sally Arscott. There were no twos but Chris took the sweep by virtue of his hole in one.
