Liskerret Male Voice Choir will be in concert in Tavistock next week to help raise funds for a respite holiday for local youngsters with Muscular Dystrophy (MD). The popular Cornish choir will perform alongside well-known local soloist Rosemary Turner, and the evening is to be compèred by Adrian Wilton. The concert will be in Tavistock Methodist Church on Saturday June 23, starting at 7.30pm. Money raised from the evening will go towards Tavistock MD Group?s Respite Holiday Project. This provides a much-needed holiday for local youngsters who have MD. This muscle wasting disease means the young people helped by the Tavistock branch need to use a wheelchair from an early age. The respite holiday is an enjoyable time for the youngsters and at the same time provides a well-earned break for their families and carers. Tavistock MD Group works hard to raise money to fund the holiday. It costs around £900 per guest for a week away, including specialised transport for wheelchairs; specially adapted accommodation; all food; trips out, and 24-hour volunteer care ?to take away 16 youngsters, the Tavistock group needs to raise £14,000. Tickets for the concert cost £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for Children and can be booked on 01822 810868, or will be available on the door.
