CHILDREN’S Hospice South West (CHSW) held a volunteer appreciation event to thank all of its volunteers who have been part of the charity’s journey over the last 25 years.

Throughout 2016 CHSW has been celebrating the 25th anniversary since the founding of the charity by Eddie Farwell and his late wife Jill. There have been volunteers helping to raise money for the charity in Cornwall since 1991.

More than 100 volunteers were invited to the event from all different areas of the charity. Volunteers heard from Eddie Farwell, co-founder and chief executive of CHSW, and Mandy Robins, director of care, who both took a look back at the last 25 years, reminisced about the early years of the charity and then on to the amount of families CHSW now supports across the South West.

All members of Little Harbour’s fundraising team expressed to volunteers the success of the 25th year and how local communities, businesses and media have all supported the charity in its celebrations and fundraising.

An afternoon tea was served to guests along with a performance from Little Harbour’s care team choir.

Alice Beard, trainee fundraiser for CHSW, said: ‘We really wanted to show our appreciation to all of our volunteers for all the time and energy they put in to supporting Children’s Hospice South West in their various different ways. We simply couldn’t do it without them and we hope that they will stay with us for the next 25 years of supporting local children and families.’
