CHILDREN from Bere Alston Primary School this term raised the staggering total of £2,550 for charity, as they responded to the Children with Leukaemia Marathon Challenge.
Each class was given a different challenge of 26 tasks or facts to learn or complete, from throwing and catching skills for the youngest children, to grammatical, mathematical or geographical posers.
The children collected sponsors and were tested at school in June. The total has been shared with the leukaemia charity, with the school buying swimming floats, DVD players and new book stands with the balance.
Deputy headteacher Andrea Bradshaw said: ?It was a magnificent effort by the children and all the friends and families who sponsored them ? staff at Bere Alston were very impressed and appreciative of their achievements.?
