North/Okes U12s 7
Exeter Chiefs U12s 36
THIS was only the second meeting of these two teams and it was North/Okes who opened the scoring with a well worked try through the threequarter line for Kevin Dennis to score in the corner. Conversion by Andrew North.
Exeter fought back and levelled the scored just before half-time. Exeter started the second half with real determination, using their weight and size advantage to the full.
Despite excellent tackling from Cameron Rickerby, Darcy Heard, Kevin Dennis, Rob Steptoe and Andrew North, they could not contain the Exeter side who went on to run out worthy winners.
Ivybridge U12s 12
North/Okes U12s 56
AFTER last week's defeat by Exeter Chiefs, this was a good bounce back by the combined side, though the scoreline flatters them a little.
Rob Stepto had a good game with some telling runs, and three well deserved tries. Darcy Heard, as well as being the dump tackle specialist, scored twice.
Sam Robinson got a try as did Will Hawkin and Andrew North, who also kicked all eight conversions.
Other notable performances came from Cameron Rickerby who made some aggressive runs, and James Ewen, who had obviously been working on his passing during the week, fed the backs well.
Next game January 11.
Okehampton/North Tawton U7s 45
Ivybridge U7s 10
THE young Okes/North Tawton side travelled away to Ivybridge expecting a tough game, but got stuck in and made their mark early on with a try apiece for Richard Hann and Louis Taylor.
They never really looked back, with excellent tackling from Callum Mallett and Ollie Francis keeping Ivybridge at bay.
When Ivybridge did make a break, good defence from Branden Horn and Luke Shinn kept them from scoring.
Zach Secombe had his best game, making a break followed by an excellent run. He was unfortunate not to score but a nice pass out to Daniel Fogerty allowed him a try, sealing a good win.
Player of the match: Jake Shinn.
