The ladies of Okehampton Golf Club held their annual meeting on Sunday. The weather was dry if cold and the scoring was generally good. As the lady captain Eileen Piper was in Australia secretary Dawn Phillott handed over the badge of office to Cherry James. (photo). The ladies played the annual team match with a difference ? instead of it being a captains versus vice captain Stableford, due to the captain?s absence it was held as vice captain against past captain (Maureen Howe). The vice captain?s team won 157 points to 147. The individual best score of the day was posted by Kath Mansell, second Janet Hatch and third was Mary Keir. Wednesday saw the ladies playing a team Stableford. The runaway winners were Kath Mansell, Jane Warren and Maureen Howe who scored a wonderful 75 pts. Second were Mo Huggins, Lorna Rolfe and Maureen Willcocks with 68 and third with 62 were Cherry James, Pat Kirby and Janet Hatch. On Sunday the men played their Daily Mail Foursomes Medal qualifier. Paul Skidmore and Russell Dibble were the winners with a net 60.5 and will represent the club next year in the knockout stages. Second were Malcolm Hooper and Richard Prouse with a net 64.5 and third were Keith Harkness and Paul Rattenbury, net 69.
