A GERMAN Shepherd puppy stolen from a vehicle in Tavistock has been re-united with her Gunnislake owner. Six-month-old Cher was found nine days after she disappeared, wandering in a caravan park more than 60 miles away at St Columb Major. Owner Jason Whitting said it was thanks to the publicity and the help of his family and friends that Cher was back with him. 'We put it on the internet and it was in the newspapers and everybody was so helpful,' he said. 'Cher was found by a dog warden and taken to the Sir Francis Home for Animals at Newquay where I collected her on Friday.' It is believed Cher was snatched from Mr Whitting's car on April 9 in Market Road. He had gone into a shop and left the window slightly open and believes someone forced it down and took the dog. 'When Cher was found she was pretty thin and not in great shape,' he said. 'Whoever had taken her had either let her go or she had escaped. 'I was not expecting to see her again so I was just overwhelmed to get her back,' he said. Mr Whitting said as soon as he shouted to Cher she jumped over the fence and ran to him and his five- year-old son: 'My son was delighted because he had made a wish to get her back. We have only had her a few months but she is already like one of the family.' A little nervy after her ordeal Cher is being given plenty of TLC: 'She was not eating to start with but now she is woofing it down and putting on some weight.' Cher is now identi-chipped so she can be traced to her owner if anything ever happens to her in the future.
