A WEST Devon brewery is celebrating, after scooping the top award at a recent regional festival. Princetown Brewery won the beer of the festival award for its Jail Ale at the South Devon CAMRA beer festival in September. Claire Connolly, head brewer, said they were delighted to have won the award, which was presented to them earlier this month by Ian Packham, south west regional director of CAMRA. Claire said: ?It?s lovely to win it ? the trophy is now in pride of place, behind the bar!? The brewery was started in 1994 by Simon Loveless, who used a small room at the back of the Prince of Wales pub in Princetown. Eighteen months ago, the brewing team moved to a purpose-built brewery in the village, from where the three staple beers are produced ? Jail Ale, Dartmoor IPA and Hopjack.
