TALENTED Jacobstowe rider Charlotte Edmonds won a scholarship prize at this week's 1998 Spillers Equestrian Awards held at Knightsbridge Barracks in London.

Charlotte, 16, has been riding all her life, but has concentrated on dressage riding since being spotted in competition six years ago. Since then she has won medals at national and international events.

Her major successes include a team bronze at the European Championships in 1997 and last year she was champion at the Catherston Stud Elementary Winter National competition.

Charlotte currently has two horses at her yard, Broomford Locarno and a new stallion, Torque O' The Devil, with whom she is hoping to compete at Grand Prix level this year.

Charlotte also competes in cross country and show jumping events. She is currently studying for her GCSEs and A levels.
