THE Inner Wheel Clubs of Tavistock and Roborough hosted a celebration for a West Devon woman who recently received a prestigious award for her work with charity.
The Inner Wheel Clubs hosted the event at the Moorland Garden Hotel, for Felicity Derry-Thomas who, at the Annual Conference in Plymouth in April, was presented with the Margarette Golding Award by Carole Young, the Inner Wheel international president.
This is an international award and Felicity was the only person in the UK and Ireland to be awarded it in the last year, for her dedication and years of service and hard work with Operation Sunshine.
Inner Wheel District 129 also presented Felicity with a substantial cheque for £10,000, which will mean that an extra container of goods can be sent to Africa in November before the last one goes in February.
The celebration was attended by Rotary District governor Stephen Lay and his wife Carole, Inner Wheel district chairman Val Pascoe and members from Liskeard and Looe, Bodmin, Redruth, Launceston and Plymouth and the Rotary presidents of Roborough and Tavistock and several Rotarians.
