CHRISTIAN Aid week in Calstock Parish came to a successful conclusion on Sunday with a 'Community Concert of Song', held in Tamar Valley Methodist Church, Albaston.

All those taking part were local artistes, with the programme organised by Kate Threlfall. The choirs comprised members selected by Kate from the churches, local choirs, and the U3A group.

Soloists were Katie McClaughry, harp; Gabrielle Lewis, organ and piano; Joan Bose, organ; plus Kate Threlfall, Gabrielle Lewis, Joan Bose, Linda Scott, Claire Cavender, vocals; and in addition Sing 105, directed by Morag Stolton, a group of young people. The concert concluded with a selection from 'A Sound Of Music', with audience participation.

A vote of thanks to the artistes was proposed by Ian Courtis, chairman of Calstock parish Christian Aid committee. Chris Jadav, the Cornwall area organiser, also addressed the gathering.

As a result of the afternoon, more than £450 was raised.
