WEST Devon?s mayor and mayoress will be serving the borough in more ways than one this Friday as they become ?trolley dollies? for charity.
Cllr Peter Hill and his wife Gay will wheel cream teas round council offices in Tavistock and Okehampton to raise money for their chosen hospice charities, St Luke?s, Plymouth, and Hospice Care, Exeter, as part of the hospices? nationwide fundraising event ?Tea at three?.
Cllr Peter Hill said: ?Gay is a hospice care nurse, so we are a bit more aware than the general public of what goes on, and we wanted to do our bit.
?I?m going to be wheeling a trolley at the Tavistock offices, and my wife will be at Okehampton ? they aren?t escaping us!
?Maybe I?ll dress up to give it a bit more humour, but I don?t know if they?ll have a pinny to suit me ? I?m rather picky and it would have to cover everything.?
Staff will be able to donate money to the charities in payment for tea and scones.
