SIXTY cyclists comprising family and friends joined Dan Wiggins and his mother Rosalind, together with Annie Jefferies of Lamerton, in their cycle challenge from John O'Groats to Land's End recently.

Their incredible efforts raised in excess of £50,000 for Brain Tumour Research Campaign and more than £20,000 for the Emily Jordan Foundation.

The route took them from John O'Groats, down the east coast of Scotland, along Loch Ness and the Caladonian Canal, through Glencoe and down Loch Lomond to Glasgow and continuing on the western side of England to Land's End, a total of 905 miles.

Five cyclists, Dan — currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment — Rosalind, Annie, Dan's brother in-law Ben and his friend Jordan cycled the whole route, with others from Scotland, England and Ireland, joining and leaving at various parts of the route.  Other relations and friends cheered and encouraged the cyclists along the way.

The ride took 19 days, with their support team accompanying them carrying all the food, spare bikes and parts.

The cyclists and team consumed 580 rolls together with pasta, soup, homemade cakes, fruit and chocolate bars, while the bikes only had 12 punctures.

On the last day from Hayle, 27 cyclists crossed the finishing line at Land's End and were met by many other friends to greet them with champagne, smoked salmon rolls and a cake.

Rosalind said: 'Our thanks go to everybody that supported us on this fabulous journey.'
