LOCAL charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) has been awarded a grant of almost £25,000 from Children in Need. The money will help underprivileged children from all over the UK receive vital respite breaks this summer. CHICKS has received grants from the Children in Need Appeal several times in the past. Fundraiser Jenny Venning said: ?We are absolutely delighted to receive this support which will help us to make a difference to the lives of so many disadvantaged children.? At its centre in Milton Abbot or Cornish retreat near St Austell, the charity provides a week of fun and adventure where children enjoy activities such as horse riding, body boarding, rock climbing, face painting and visits to the aquarium, cinema and beach. General manager David Wynn Jones said: ?The aim is for the children to have fun, escape the pressures of their day to day lives and develop some really positive childhood memories.?
