THE Rotary Club of Tavistock held its annual charity golf tournament at the town's golf club recently, attracting 114 competitors who enjoyed an excellent day on the course.
The event raised £2,000 for the cancer charity Myeloma UK. The charity covers every aspect of the condition from information and support to improving standards of treatment and care through research, campaigning and raising awareness.
Club president Clive Fairchild accepted the cheque on behalf of Myeloma UK from golf club committee chairman Rama Nand-Lal.
He said: 'As we move through life we all realise that someone close is affected by cancer and this donation will help to extend the boundaries of new research and give sufferers new hope.'
Mr Fairchild added that the golf tournament involved a great deal of organising and expressed thanks to members of the Rotary Club as well as the teams of players, sponsors and contributors for supporting the event so generously.
