A CHARITY walk starting at Princetown Visitor Centre is taking place on Saturday, August 20.
The ten mile trek named DarkMoor will take place at night and is in aid of Marie Curie nurses.
This exciting night trek over the Dartmoor National Park aims to light up the night and help to raise over £30,000 for the local nursing organisation.
Marie Curie Nurses offer free nursing services to people with all terminal illnesses across the UK, as well as support for family and friends.
Walking enthusiast Connie Thomas from mid-Devon said: ‘This is a really exciting event to get involved in as we will be trekking through the beautiful national park after dark, knowing we are making a difference to the lives of people living with a terminal illness.’
The walk is supported by the mountain guides at Spirit of Adventure who will be keeping everyone on course throughout the night and there is also a midnight water stop to keep walkers energised into the early hours of Sunday morning.
Every participant will finish the trek receiving their own trekking medal and goodie bag as well as refreshments to toast their success before retiring to their beds for a well-deserved sleep.
There are still spaces left on the walk, which you must pre-register for. Once signed up walkers receive a free trekking t-shirt.
Registration for the walk on the day starts at 8.40pm for an hour. Marie Curie is asking every walker to aim to raise £200 in sponsorship, for those who raise £300 or more will also get a free trekking tubular scarf to wear on the night.
The minimum age for the walk is 14-years-old and under-18s must be accompanied by an experienced adult walker.
