THE Exeter Leukaemia Fund Charity Dog Show on July 16 proved a huge success, despite poor weather. The event raised more than £1,000 for the charity.
The event managed to raise the magnificent sum of £1010.25 for ELF, with all proceeds from the show going to the charity.
One of the event's organisers Graham Roe said: 'The weather was poor but we still had a really good turnout.
'People were extremely generous. Lots of visitors and people we know gave £40, £50 or even more. We are very grateful for their generosity.
'The showing went really well. The dog jumping was fun — lots of people watched that and enjoyed it.
'The dogs had to go over horse jumps, and it was timed with a running commentary. It was a great event, part of a great day.'
The event started later than planned, due to showers. However, once the trade stands had been put up, the dog jumping show began, providing entertainment for visitors and competitors alike.
Class winners were Oli Cooper and Poppy, Paige Edens and Dora, Cadi Roe and Buffy and Daisy and Tilly.
The weather improved, allowing the dog show to begin at 1pm without delay. North Park Vets' Bryony Herod-Taylor judged the various events, while Abby Westlake acted as the Steward.
A name the dog competition was also held at the show, with over 100 different names submitted for the Dalmation Soft Toy prize. The winning name was Bonnie.
Organisers expressed thanks to Bryony Herrod-Taylor of North Park Vets for judging, and Abby Westlake for stewarding. They also thanked every sponsor, donators of raffle prizes, John and Tonia Barton for the use of their land, helpers, visitors and competitors.
