Dust down your glad rags and enjoy midsummer?s night in a beautiful setting by a candle-lit lake. As an added bonus you will be helping Hospiscare at the same time.

The occasion is the charity?s 21st Anniversary Midsummer Ball and the venue is Crealy Park. Hospiscare has received fantastic support from local companies for the ball ? with Taw Valley Creamery at North Tawton giving the cheese course for up to 500 people.

The evening begins with a Pimms reception in a beautiful lakeside setting with a view of the sunset over the Haldon Hills behind. A delicious three course meal in a marquee is followed by dancing to popular local band Barnaby.

Those who don?t like dancing can stroll by the lake and watch the reflections. Or if they prefer a bit of adrenaline, guests can ride the roller coaster or drive the go-karts.

The grand finale will be a dramatic firework display over the lake.

The ball is being organised by two supporters of Hospiscare: Norma Foster and Liz Neill. They raised more than £9,000 for Hospiscare?s daycare centre in 2001 when they organised a dinner at the Great Hall.

?We aim to make this a really fun evening,? said Norma.

?We are offering excellent food in an elegant setting. We want people to enjoy themselves, while helping this excellent local charity.?

Cathy Debenham, Hospiscare?s head of fundraising said she was ?really excited? about the Midsummer Ball.

?Crealy is an exciting new venue which offers the top class setting and catering you expect for a ball, as well the opportunity for a bit of fun on the rides if that takes your fancy,? she said.

?I know that the marquee will look wonderful and that they will make it a really fun evening. It is a wonderful way of combining raising money with a good night out.?

The ball at Crealy Park is on Saturday 21 June. For more information about the ball and booking tickets contact Norma Foster on 01392 256720 or Liz Neill on 01392 873431.
