THE annual Tavistock Charity Bonanza celebrated its 21st year by raising £3,500 for various charities.

Organised by Friends of Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS), the bonanza took place at the pannier market and volunteers from 13 local charities were in attendance.

Mayor of Tavistock, Cllr David Whitcomb opened the event, accompanied by Cllr Susan Bailey.

Bryan Podmore from Friends of TASS said: 'Volunteers from all the charities had obviously worked very hard prior to the event, collecting and sorting donated goods, and on the day displayed them in a very professional manner.

'The quality of the goods showed through in the amount of money collected and made it a wonderful event for everyone.'

Mr Podmore expressed thanks to the market reeve and pannier market staff for their help and advice, and to local businesses and publications for their help in advertising the bonanza.
