A WEST Devon charity is planning a number of events next month, as part of the national Advice Week, which takes place from September 11 to 17. West Devon Citizens? Advice Bureau hopes the events, as well as raising much needed funds, will also highlight the key role the charity plays in the community. Barbara Osborne, CAB manager, said: ?Many people don?t realise that every Citizens? Advice Bureau is a charity in need of funds and volunteers. ?We aim to raise £700 this week to help us to continue to deliver a free, independent advice service to everyone who needs it, no matter what the problem.? On Tuesday September 12, there will be an Early Birds Jumble Sale at All Saints Church Hall in Okehampton, starting at 8.30am. On Thursday September 14 there will be a prize bingo at the same venue. In Tavistock, there will be a street collection on September 14 and on Friday September 12, a wine and wisdom evening will be held at the Coronation Hall in Mary Tavy, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £18 per team of six, to include two bottles of wine and nibbles. Barbara said: ?We would like to invite everyone to show their support for our work by joining us for the quiz night. ?We can promise all those who come a fun night out with a chance to pit their wits against others!? Last year, West Devon CAB helped resolve more than 5,200 problems on issues ranging from debt and welfare benefits to employment, housing and consumer problems. The bureau is based at Kingdon House in Tavistock and at The Ockment Centre in Okehampton.
