THERE is an opportunity to take part in a bumper charity sale in Tavistock at the end of this month.

The event is being staged to support the Grass Roots Challenge — Tavistock Town Hall is one of many village and town halls around the region to run a bring and buy or charity sale, which will raise funds to help elderly people in need in the South West.

David Evans, town hall manager, said: 'We've invited various charities to come along and sell their bric-a-brac and goods. Obviously, they will make money for their various causes, but any money from table rents or raffle ticket sales will go to the Grass Roots Challenge.

'Charities involved at the moment include the Lions Club of Tavistock, Tavistock Rotary Club, St Luke's Hospice, Children's Hospice South West, Tavistock Museum and Tavistock Parish Church.'

Any local group who would like to be involved in the sale, either by taking a table or donating a raffle prize, should contact Mr Evans at the town hall on 01822 617232. The sale will take place on Saturday, January 30, between 10.30am and 4pm.
