VOLUNTEERS from Tavistock and District Christian Aid Group will be busy during the coming week, as they make house to house collections during the annual Christian Aid Week.

The theme for this year?s event is ?Together, we are changing the world?.

In addition to street collections, fundraising activities will be held in Tavistock, Whitchurch, Horrabridge, Peter Tavy and Mary Tavy. A flag day will also be held in Tavistock town centre on Friday May 16.

The group are hoping to exceed last year?s total, which amounted to a splendid £4,682.

Ian Silcox, chairman of the group, said that on the final day of Christian Aid Week, Sunday May 18, there will be a united service of thanksgiving at Tavistock Catholic Church in Callington Road, with an address given by Robert Pearce, a Christian Aid regional director.
