Plymouth A 3
Tavistock 2
TAVISTOCK men's hockey team were left to contemplate the opportunities missed and to reflect on another game in which they bettered the opposition but did not come away with the points.
Still holding third position in the league and only one point behind the leading two teams Tavistock benefited from a walk-over in Sunday's fixture against Falmouth, to keep them in contention.
The game against Plymouth started badly when the home side scored within five minutes, but Phil Edwards slotted a well-taken short corner home.
Tavistock squandered many chances and some good play by the Plymouth keeper kept the half-time goal tally all-square.
Tavistock knew the game was there for the taking but Plymouth started the second half the stronger and their second goal was inevitable.
Tavistock managed to get their own game back together and after numerous short corners Edwards scored his second.
With the home side having one of their forwards red-carded and with all their possession Tavistock still could not capitalise and against the run of play the home side put the game out of reach.
