A NUMBER of volunteering opportunities are available throughout the summer in the Tamar Valley, thanks to the Tamar Valley Helping Hands for Heritage project. Use your volunteering skills, or develop new ones, by joining in with these events and activities. Tomorrow (Friday) interested people can join nature and astronomy experts for a bat walk and stargazing on the Pentillie Estate from 8pm onwards, to learn more about bats, see them in action followed by star gazing the night sky, learning to identify stars and constellations. Also on the Pentillie Estate on Saturday (August 9), there will be an opportunity for dawn bird watching and ringing at 5.30am. Licensed bird ringer Dave Scott will demonstrate catching and ringing the African migrant birds before they head south on their journey. The event is organised on behalf of the British Trust for Ornithology. Booking is essential for both events, call 01822 835030 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
