YOUR readers might be interested to know that the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority will meet on February 20 to consider policing priorities, levels of service and the council tax precept for the coming year.
It professes to be very keen to obtain the views of the public on those issues and proposes to use any of its regular community liaison meetings held between now and February 20 to allow members of the public to comment on the issues and, so it claims, to influence future priorities.
As there is no liaison meeting scheduled for Okehampton prior to February 20 it would appear that Okehampton residents, unless they are prepared to travel to Tavistock, will not have an opportunity to make their views known.
I would urge that as many people as possible from Okehampton attend the meeting in Tavistock as I am sure we all have concerns about the level and standard of policing in Okehampton and the Police authority precept.
I will be attending the meeting at Tavistock, if any Okehampton resident is unable to attend but would like their views put forward I am quite willing, if given the opportunity, to speak on their behalf.
