PARKLANDS Leisure Centre in Okehampton and Meadowlands Leisure Pool in Tavistock are giving children in West Devon, who are learning to swim on the Swim School programme in the two towns, the opportunity to swim as many times as they want to during any public swimming sessions at the pools.

The initiative has been designed to encourage all the children and young people on Swim School to swim as much as they want to in all swimming pools within the West Devon area in a bid to get children more active, more often.

Chris Perry, senior contract manager for the leisure centres, said: 'Our Swim School is a vital part of the community and we pride ourselves on helping youngsters in the area learn this important life skill.

'We hope this initiative will encourage as many children as possible to continue swimming outside of our lessons.'
