PLAYING unbeaten and top of the league team Tavistock saw their back four of Glasspoole, Coker, Cox and Shaw holding strong. It took a long ball forward after 30 minutes of trying to beat on form keeper Stock. Donna Hone and player of the match Carleigh Bammons were outstanding in midfield and worked tirelessly to get the ball up to lone striker Gordon.
A loose ball arrived at the feet of Hammond whose half volley just clipped the post. Against the run of play a long ball forward and a one on one with Stock was pushed around the post but an identical situation a few minutes later saw the ball in the back of the net.
However Blowey took an in swinging kick and the ball soared into the back of the net to reduce the lead to 2-1 at half time. Alphington became more and more frustrated and aggression began to show. Tavistock played some excellent one two football and Cox and Glasspoole began to build from the back and they were rewarded when a run from Blowey led to Hone volleying in the equaliser.
With only five minutes to go the home side was caught napping at a free kick and a run down the wing and a cross went into the top of the net. A freekick by Hammond went inches wide of the goal as Tavistock never gave up. Alphington added another late goal to make it 4-2.
