A SUPPORT group for people suffering with lung disease or breathing problems celebrated its official launch last week.
The Tavistock Breath Easy Group, part of the British Lung Foundation, has been running sessions for a year but celebrated its official launch at the Anchorage Centre last?Wednesday.
It is now recognised as an established group. Taking part in the celebration were members, supporters, representatives of the British Lung Foundation and Tavistock Town Mayor Cllr Anne Johnson.
Cllr Johnson said: 'We do really well in Tavistock with volunteering and this is another example of reacting to a need in the town. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to get here.'
Treasurer of Tavistock Breath Easy Group Bernard Daws said: 'It is somewhere to meet other people also suffering with some sort of lung condition.
'We have various speakers at our meetings and you always learn something new and get lots of tips, and those things really help. It makes it easier to cope with the condition.
'People with asthma, bronchitis, COPD or any problem to do with the lungs come to these meetings.'
The Breath Easy Group meets at The Anchorage Centre on the last Wednesday of every month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. However, there is no meeting in December.
