MORE than 70 visitors and friends joined together at Bere Alston United Church last Saturday to celebrate the fitting out and opening of the new Hope Cottage cafe. The church purchased the cottage, which is adjacent to the church, several years ago, but improvement work was only carried out last year, with the cafe opening every weekday morning from February this year. The afternoon started with a service of celebration ? after the service the congregation enjoyed a cream tea in the cottage garden. The cafe is proving very popular as a meeting place for local people and for visitors and is now open for the summer on Saturday morning and afternoon as well, with a break between 12.30pm and 2pm. Anyone who would like to help this community project should call Hilary Boot-Handford on 01822 841185.
