A WEST Devon couple have whisked themselves off on holiday in celebration of their golden wedding this month.

Leslie Kenneth and Valerie Joy Ormerod, 70 and 67, now living in Horrabridge, met on the Isle of Wight 50 years ago.

Leslie said: 'Valerie was at school and I had just got back from working in Cyprus. She was actually chasing my mate at the time!'

Leslie worked as an engineer for Southern Water and Valerie was a supervisor at a grocery shop. They have two children Alan and Tracey.

In celebration of their anniversary, and Leslie's 70th birthday, the couple took a holiday to Jersey for a week.
