A TOP ceilidh band will be entertaining in West Devon this weekend, at an event to raise money for a cancer charity. The Other Foot, an experienced Ceilidh band of musicians who have studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire, are taking a break from their gigs in the Midlands to come and play at the 'Ceilidh for CLIC' in Bere Alston on Saturday. Helen Lancaster, a professional fiddler and violin teacher who also plays with Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Ensemble and viola with the Nero String Quartet and the National Symphony Orchestra, said: 'When my friend Louise Poole, who is running the London Marathon this year for CLIC Sargent, asked if we would play for a barn dance she was organising for the charity, we were delighted to accept. 'We are excited about visiting Devon as we have family and friends there, and the funds raised will be going to a very good cause.' This promises to be a lively evening, with an opportunity to dance away the winter blues in Bere Alston Parish Hall on Saturday February 17. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets £6 (children £3), includes pasty (but BYOB), from Christine Poole 840612, [email protected]">[email protected]. CLIC Sargent care for children with cancer, and carry out research.
