SOUTH West Lakes Trust will be demonstrating its environmental credentials in an innovative way this month, in the form of a fashion show. The trust will be hosting 'The Lakeside Collection' at Roadford Lake — a 'pre-loved' clothes fashion event — on Thursday, May 8, at 6.30pm. Manager Donna Saunders said: 'This is a perfect way for followers of fashion, shopaholics, bargain hunters and anyone who loves good quality clothing to contribute to recycling, while at the same time having fun and socialising. The bar will also be open.' To help raise funds for its educational work, eight of the trust's intrepid female employees will show they can more than match London Fashion Week stars, modelling a selection of the goods on offer as they strut their stuff on the catwalk. Afterwards, everyone will have the chance to buy from the array of high quality items, including clothes, shoes, handbags, jewellery at bargain prices. 'Everyone has that special item that has only been worn once or twice, or left in the wardrobe since new, or no longer fits but is in near perfect condition,' said Donna. 'Rather than let them go to waste, many of our supporters, inspired by Joanna Lumley's national campaign, have generously given their high quality clothing and accessories, in a bid to give them a new life and raise money for a good cause. Anyone with an eye for a bargain will be able to take advantage of the fantastic goods on sale.' Tickets are available at £5 per person and include a glass of wine and entry into a prize draw for a meal for four at the Lakeside Carvery. Anyone unable to attend, but wishing to support the fundraising can still buy a ticket and be entered into the prize draw. Tickets are available by contacting 01566 784859 or emailing [email protected]">[email protected] Donna is still happy to receive any quality used clothing, which can be handed in to any South West Lakes Trust employee. Heritage and operations director Colin Vallance, who will be running a silent auction on the evening, said: 'Our charity is well practised at these events, having staged a successful fashion evening at Wheal Martyn Museum in Cornwall, attracting over 100 guests. Please come along and enjoy a fun evening with us and support our brave models who are volunteering to entertain you on the night.'
