A CATS protection charity is urgently calling for volunteers and donations in the West Devon area.

Plymouth and District Cats Protection, which covers Tavistock, Yelverton and the surrounding villages, is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers rescuing, fostering and rehoming stray and unwanted cats and kittens in the area.

The charity ensures all cats have a full health check, are neutered, have their inoculations and are flea, tick and worm treated. Every cat that is in and out of the charity's care is also microchipped and blood tested against infectious diseases.

A lot of the charity's work involves raising funds to enable it to meet the costs of providing care and welfare for the cats. It is now looking for people to volunteer, donate and support its work. The charity is also seeking people to foster cats or kittens indoors, or in special outdoor pens, or even sponsor a cat cabin for a homeless feline.

For those interested, but who are on means of benefits, the charity can offer a voucher to your vets to help towards the cost.

The charity also helps to reunite lost cats with their owners, and can organise for people to leave a legacy to Cats Protection.
