CASTLE Drogo near Drewsteignton and Dartmoor National Park Authority have teamed up to lay on a sumptuous spread of delicacies from some of the most innovative food producers in the area at the Moor to Valley Food Fayre, which takes place in the castle grounds in October.
As part of the annual Devon Celebration of Food, marquees will be bursting with local food producers displaying the best of local produce from the area on October 23 and 24. Activities will demonstrate not only the versatility of food but also how to find delicious food in the wild and even provide a pumpkin hunt around the grounds of Castle Drogo for the young ones.
Mark Agnew, Castle Drogo property manager, said: ?The Moor to Valley Food Fair will kick off our week of half term activities leading up to Halloween. We are so pleased to be working with Dartmoor National Park and Devon Food Links to promote the fantastic range of food available from this area. I think our visitors will be surprised by what they can taste and discover about Dartmoor food.?
Devon Food Links promotion and marketing co-ordinator Fred McCaig said: ?We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with the National Trust and Dartmoor National Park Authority.
?This event will give producers from the Moor and the Valleys a chance to meet customers new and old and enjoy activities that illustrate the connections between food and the land from where it comes.?
Producers already lined up for the weekend include Dartmoor Happy Hogs, Curworthy Cheese, Cakes and Baked goods and locally grown Beef. There will also be a Hog Roast, Juice Bar and Westlake Farm will be demonstrating how Apple Juice is made with their mobile press.
There will be samples and an opportunity to meet producers as well as buying their delicious produce.
Devon Celebration of Food is organised by Devon Food Links and is in its third year. It offers events and opportunities to businesses and organisations from Devon to celebrate the quality and variety of food and drink produced in the county.
