A cheque for £3,000 was presented by the branch to the charity last week. The money was from the TSB Community Fund, from which 50 prizes are awarded to community groups nationally, and TASS was chosen as one of the five in the South West to receive the funding.
The money will be used to continue to deliver the charity’s Advocacy Service, which is delivered as part of the outreach service, to train volunteers to help people with finances such as bill paying and benefit applications. The money will also be used towards marketing materials and training courses to ensure people remain up to date with benefit changes.
TASS treasurer and trustee Gail Reed said: ‘This money will make a huge difference. Over the years we’ve started various initiatives with funding from central government but funding has either decreased or stopped but we couldn’t just stop delivering the services, so this money will help greatly.’
Tavistock TSB branch has been supporting TASS as its charity partner and Gail expressed thanks to the branch for its continued support.
Gail and TASS manager Diane Newman were presented with the cheque last week from former branch manager Derek Solomon and new branch manager Chrissi Dainty.
