MORE residents than ever before are saying that West Devon Borough Council is making the area a better place to live and they're happy with the way the council runs its services. In a survey of 2,500 randomly selected West Devon households carried out late last year, almost 90% say they are satisfied with their local area as a place to live. Almost 70% of respondents say they are satisfied with the way the council runs its services – almost 5% more than when the same question was asked in a similar survey 12 months ago. A further 77% of people said the council was making the local area a better place to live. Affordable decent housing, traffic congestion, activities for teenagers and public transport were highlighted by residents as top priorities for improvement in West Devon. Mayor of West Devon Cllr Dennis Bater said: 'The council is committed to providing high quality value for money services and we're delighted that our residents appreciate the services we provide. 'More people than ever before are happy with the way the council is run and we aim to work even harder to ensure that everyone in West Devon enjoys a good quality of life.'
