ON a hot summer's afternoon in Tavistock Meadows, six teams from local football clubs, Tavistock Jets, Tavistock Thistles and Horrabridge, enjoyed a fun day sponsored by Ayres Sports and Leisure.
With all the teams playing against each other over ten minute periods, some surprising results were recorded.
Tavistock Jets by virtue of a single goal beat Tavistock Thistles to win at Under 12 and Horrabridge, for the second year running, beat Tavistock Jets at Under 11.
Thanks were expressed to Will Reed and Neil Cleave of Tavistock Thistles, for the hard work in preparation of the pitches and to Tavistock Jets for the loan of equipment, to Rob and Clare Wallace for their refereeing and to all the managers and parents.

PLAY-off was needed to determine a winner for this age group.
At 0-0 full time, golden goal extra time was needed.
The first half was end to end as both teams tired, but during the second half, with only a small amount of time left, a corner was sent in to the box.
After a scramble it came to Jets' player James Follett, who shot and scored to clinch the trophy.
The selected players from next season's Tavistock Jets squad who took part were Luke Wakley, Ollie Payne, Stephen Law, David Restall, Mike Morgan, Paul Waddle, David Smyly and James Follett.
