ORGANISERS of this year?s Hatherleigh Carnival are celebrating a bumper profit from the event, which was held in November.
At the last committee meeting of the year, it was revealed that the carnival profit total was £795.92, which has been divided between several local good causes.
The Day Centre received £325, Devon Air Ambulance £100, Hatherleigh Silver Band £125, Dartmoor Rescue Group £70, the MS charity £50, the Rotary Club £25, Parish Pump £25 and the Hatherleigh Christmas lights
fund £75.
Louise Bater of Hatherleigh carnival committee said: ?Despite the rain, everyone agreed it had been a wonderful carnival ? our thanks go to the many collectors and of course a big thank you to everyone who gave so generously.?
A grand total of £878.02 was collected, with Ivor Pellow making the biggest amount of ££270.64. The top ladies collector was Louise Bater, whose total was £75.70.
The committee also thanked the WI ladies and guides who also made such a difference to the collection.
PC Mark Hoar told the committee he had thoroughly enjoyed his first experience of Hatherleigh Carnival and that the day had passed with no trouble.
The committee thanked everyone involved for their time and efforts which contributed to such a successful day, and also to those who have supported the fundraising events held throughout the year.
Next year promises to be a really special carnival as it will be the 100th such event.
