SOME detective work by members of Tavistock Lions Club resulted in a special moment and some carnival memories re-kindled last weekend.
A photo from 1958 recently published in the Times showed the then carnival queen Sylvia Williams, getting into a car with the door held open by Ken Morris, the local funeral director.
The Lions club contacted Sylvia, now Mrs Gillard, and invited her to the crowning ceremony in the Meadows on Sunday.
The new photo shows Sylvia with Simon Luke, Ken Morris? grandson, a member of the Lions and fifth generation in the family funeral business.
