THIS year?s Princetown Carnival looks set to be a cracker ? and it needs you to help make it happen! There are plans so far to operate two arenas for the carnival day on Saturday, Sepember 2. Each will have a programme of events with singers, dancers, circus acts and three very different types of band. In addition there will be a good range of fairground rides and a variety of charity and commercial stalls. The carnival will feature a family dog show, the Dartmoor Pony Show and a tug of war. The new Princetown Brewery will also be offering guided tours. The centrepiece for the carnival will be a community art project, called ?Workshop Under the Sky?. This will be bringing a yurt to the carnival along with professional artists to help and encourage everyone to have a go at drawing and painting. This was made possible through a grant from the Local Network Fund and will allow budding artists to drop in and out of the yurt throughout carnival day. To ensure this is the best Princetown Carnival yet the organisers are looking for as many volunteer helpers as possible. Spokesperson Sandy Brookes said: ?Carnivals don?t just happen, they take a lot of organising and need an army of people on the day to drive, fetch and carry, set up stalls and games and run them. ?They also need parking attendants, marshals, donation collectors and then another army to clear up afterwards. ?Could you see yourself doing any of the these things?
