TAVISTOCK Lions Club members distributed more than £4,500 to participants of this year's carnival at a packed-out parish hall last week.
The Brown Monkey Mini Club from Callington received £350 for winning 'best in procession' and for coming first in the 'humorous' class. Part of its winnings was donated to Children's Hospice South West. 'Best in theme', which was 'Hollywood to Bollywood' was won by St Andrew's WI from Whitchurch for their portrayal of the Calendar Girls, they received £200.
The evening was opened by Tavistock mayor and mayoress Robin and Diana Pike.
