YELVERTON fire crew was called to a car on fire at Horrabridge in the early hours of Monday morning. The car had been abandoned in the drive of a house, unknown to the occupants of the property, and set alight. Yelverton firefighters extinguished the blaze, which had started to spread to a hedge, but the Kia car was totally destroyed. Police also attended. l A crew from Tavistock attended a chimney fire in a cottage at Chip Shop last Friday after 9pm. Firefighters used standard chimney equipment to tackle the blaze and one thermal imaging camera. Tim Smith, Tavistock?s fire station officer, said: ?This would be a good time to remind people to get their chimney swept ready for the winter.?
