TAVISTOCK Air Cadets organized a kayak and canoe camp at Roadford Lake recently, with the assistance of the Tavistock Outdoor Education Forum.

During the event achievements in the British Canoe Unions awards in paddle power and cross-stream challenges were achieved by all.

Cadet Luke Turton said: 'This is the second occasion this year I have attended this weekend, and the fun in learning new skills, including how to roll successfully, was brilliant.

'I am now looking forward to completing the Discovery award, where I am required to undertake two expeditions.'

Flt Lt Phil Newcombe said the weather and the location helped towards the success of the event.

'Our cadets came from all over the region to take part.

'We are thankful to SW Lakes and Roadford's water sports centre in allowing this event to take place.'
