Amity Cornwall women's league division two

Callington Town Ladies 4

Holmans Ladies 1

DESPITE getting into some excellent positions in the first half, Callington struggled to find a way past a good Holmans keeper.

It wasn't until 10 minutes before half time that the home side made the break through when a Katy Sheffield corner dropped to Jan Rider who reacted quickest to nod home from a couple of yards.

The second half followed much the same format — Callington must have thought that it wasn't going to be their day when half way into the second half, top scorer Sam May put a penalty wide of the post.

Holmans equalised when their player lobbed the Callington keeper with a looping effort from 20 yards. However, Holmans' joy was short-lived because two minutes later a lofted through ball from Katy Sheffield found substitute Kate Bourn who lifted the ball over the out-rushing Holmans keeper to regain the home side's lead. Bourn gave Callington more of an opposing threat going forward, and it was her cross from the right wing that was superbly headed home by Sam May.

Candy Caplin rounded off Callington's scoring 10 minutes from time when a long solo run ended with an excellent low drive into the bottom corner.
